For Maree Gordon, being a Financial Adviser means giving people choices. She empowers her clients to understand their money, allowing them choices in life, whether this be improving their work-life balance, making travel plans, or having a safety net for the unexpected.
Maree holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Management Degree, a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies and is a long-time member of Financial Advice New Zealand (FANZ). Having worked with NZFP since 2011, she provides full comprehensive planning, including insurance and Kiwisaver.
Originally from Timaru, Maree now lives and works as a Financial Adviser in Wellington with her husband and their two daughters. She lives by the motto ‘enjoy today and plan for tomorrow,’ and is passionate about using her skills in financial planning to help her clients live their fullest life.
Bringing heart to financial planning
As an experienced Financial Adviser, Maree knows the importance of understanding each client’s unique situation and empowers them to understand their own. What she enjoys most about her job is presenting her clients with a plan that gives them peace of mind.
Maree understands that her clients are real people, and tailors her approach on an individual basis. Most importantly, she wants her clients to see her as part of their team.
“I believe in the team. As New Zealanders, we think we can ‘do everything ourselves’, but teams are critical for success, and I want clients to know I’m dedicated to their team. I totally believe in what’s best for them.”
Maree realises that the goals of her female clients don’t always match up to the traditional financial planning model. As with all her clients, she helps plan for a future that is real to them, ensuring they feel seen and understood throughout the process.
“I had one client who was just invisible amongst all these entities. I said, “What about you?” She said no one had ever said that. It was a real moment, and I felt that she trusted me.”
