Terry joined the financial planning industry in 1987 after working as an area manager at the United Building Society. As part of this, he helped to set up their financial planning branch for their clients in the upper part of the North Island.

Terry started at New Zealand Financial Planning in 1990 after gaining his Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Personal Financial Planning) at Massey University.

"I am here for those people that have money and have a problem. They know that in the long-term, money in the bank is not the solution but they don't understand the markets or what to do with what they have got to get them to where they want to go. What I enjoy doing is providing the solution so they can live a comfortable and fulfilling lifestyle."

Outside of work, Terry enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and getting involved with his daughters passion for netball. He is also a keen swimmer, having swum 3000km at his fitness club in Auckland in the past 8 years. He also participated in the Auckland's Harbour Swim a couple of years ago.

Terry also enjoys a good round of golf, although he isn't so good at it and also likes yachting and competing in ocean races.
