Gavin gained his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Auckland in 1999, majoring in Economics and Financial Accounting. He has also completed his Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Personal Financial Planning) through Massey University. Gavin is a Certified Financial PlannerCM Practitioner and a member of the Institute of Financial Advisers and the New Zealand Trustees Association.
Before joining NZFP, he had local and overseas managerial roles,
more recently specialising in retirement planning, investment advice and
risk management for a global corporate here in NZ. He says this experience
has taught him the importance of forward planning, relationship building and
competent financial management.
On
a personal level, Gavin believes that the decreasing financial support
provided by the Government and the increasing awareness among the community
that you must provide for yourself has led to the retirement issue becoming
ever more complex.
"I see my role as
assisting clients to achieve their lifestyle goals now and in the future,
coaching them on their journey towards financial independence in retirement
by providing competent advice and careful planning."
Gavin is married with
two daughters and lives in Devonport on Auckland's North Shore. He is
Trustee of the Rotary Club of Devonport Charitable Trust as well as a
past-President of the Devonport Rotary Club. His interests include fine wine
and dining, along with outdoor pastimes such as fishing, diving, tramping
and hunting.
